The Twelfth night plot of Shakespeare appears here in the interpretation of the contemporary playwright KLIM. This is a comedic tale of wandering actors who decide to stage the play The Twelfth Night. The play of actors is closely intertwined with their personal stories, and it is already difficult to understand where is the line between the portrayed duke, duchess, servants, clowns and the actors who play them, and even Kurbas Theatre actors, trying on the costumes of a traveling troupe speak about personal experience in the theater.
“The title of the work alone lures a director, his actors and their audience into a space of never-ending layers of patterns and games where the boundaries between the faces of players, the roles play, and the playing within the roles they play become indistinguishable. There is no line between illusion and reality, not even in gender…. in the end … its connection to pure theatricality and unforgettable fantasy produces something rarely experienced on our stages. And if you’re lucky enough to see this work, it will seem that Shakespeare himself is laughing somewhere in the wings.” –Anna Lypivska, The Day
